BIG VIEWS AT LITTLE LIMON: RESORT WELCOMES LOCALS IN FOR A NIGHT OUT

My recent date night’s highlight, Little Limon, is tucked away in Islamorada’s brand-new Three Waters Resort. Don’t be put off by the word “resort.” In addition to being cordially welcomed, locals receive a 15% discount on food and beverages.

Locals can park at the marina on the south side of the property for convenient access, which is exactly what we did. When dining on the beach, time is everything. We got there about an hour before sunset. If there’s one thing I always tell people, it’s that after sunset, the colors of the bayside reflect across the water, giving the ocean side a stunning display. And Little Limon didn’t let us down tonight, filling the room with the deep, luminous colors that make dinnertime seem like a little piece of heaven.

After enjoying live music at the new tiki bar for pre-dinner drinks, we went upstairs to Little Limon’s balcony overlooking the beach. With the perspective, the colors, and the breeze combining to create a really wonderful experience, the evening’s splendor was nearly beyond description. The service was prompt, and I was given ice-cold water to sip while perusing an amazing assortment of rare mezcals.

My fiancé Mark chose Dos Hombres mezcal on the rocks, an amazing tequila brand made by Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, following a brief mezcal tasting. I opted for a tequila martini, which is a variant of the traditional vodka martini, but instead of Dos Hombres. This martini was so smooth it was nearly frightening. I knew right away to pace myself.

There are many excellent crudos and ceviches on the menu, but my favorite is the local snapper crudo. It had soft snapper chunks with radish, chili crisp, teardrop peppers, and coconut lime foam on top. The fine shavings of sea salt flakes were one touch that the menu completely overlooked yet that made the fish stand out. The lobster tostada, which came next in the tasting, was just amazing. Since it’s difficult to share and, to be honest, you won’t want to, I would advise obtaining one for each person. Maine lobster lives its greatest life when it is served on top of the crispiest tostada with a mixture of pico de gallo, chipotle cr me, mango, and cabbage.

Although spicy tuna tacos are a common appetizer in the Keys, these were among my top three picks. The citrusy sauce used to marinate the tuna complements the creamy avocado to perfection. The masa chorizo corn dog, which was cut sushi-style and adorned with a fantastic assortment of sauces and toppings, was the most interesting meal. Then came the grouper sliders. Was this an inside joke that I was unaware of? I couldn’t help but laugh. Despite being enormous, they were known as sliders.

Even while I adore our comfortable, well-known locations for date evenings, occasionally you need to try something new and interesting. Little Limon was right on the money. With the live music from the tiki bar on one side and the soft beach waves on the other, the atmosphere was vibrant. Both residents and visitors were crammed into the tavern, savoring the food. It seemed like a wonderful diversion from the typical dining establishments. It is highly recommended by me. Little Limon should undoubtedly be on your radar if you’re searching for something unique for your upcoming date night.
