DETROIT (AP) More than 208,000 electric cars are being recalled by Hyundai and Kia to address a bothersome issue that could result in driving power loss, raising the possibility of an accident.
Over 145,000 Hyundai and Genesis vehicles are recalled, including the 2022–2024 Ioniq 5, the 2023–2025 Ioniq 6, the GV60 and GV70, and the 2023–2024 G80.
Nearly 63,000 Kia EV 6 automobiles from 2022 to 2024 are also included.
According to government records from the connected Korean manufacturers, a faulty transistor in a charging control unit may prevent the 12-volt battery from charging.
Dealers will check the control unit and, if necessary, replace the fuse. They will also update the software. Owners who had their cars recalled earlier this year to address the same issue will need to go back to their dealer.
In December and January, owners will receive a letter informing them.
