The senior police officer in Albany is leaving the city. Sunday was Chief Eric Hawkins’ formal last day.He is departing to take a position as Warren, Michigan’s police commissioner.
To honor him for his six years as the head of the Albany Police agency and to congratulate him on his new position, the agency hosted a pipe out ceremony last week.
In the past forty years, Hawkins has been Albany’s longest-serving police chief.
His predecessor, former Albany Police Chief Brendan Cox, is currently taking his place.
