North Carolina man dies two weeks after an explosion at his home

N.C. WEDDINGTON (AP) According to officials, an 82-year-old man from North Carolina died two weeks after his suburban Charlotte home was bombed.

According to the sheriff’s office, Union County was affected by the explosion that occurred at Wesley Decker’s house in Weddington on November 17. The guy and his wife were evacuated to hospitals after the house sustained significant damage, where they received treatment before being released, according to officials.

Union County said in a news release on Sunday that Decker, who was recovering at a long-term care facility after suffering severe burns in the explosion, passed away on Friday. A death inquiry will be carried out by the sheriff’s office.

According to officials, the county fire marshal’s office concluded that the incident was an unintentional fuel-air explosion, which happens when fuel and oxygen in the air combine to produce a strong explosion.

Although police claimed the precise cause of the explosion is still unknown, investigators found three possible ignition sources in the garage where it occurred. Authorities are trying to complete their investigation.
