Troy man admits to leaving halfway house

A man from Troy entered a guilty plea to abandoning a halfway house.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 39-year-old Dyshawn Fisher acknowledged in federal court on Tuesday that he escaped the Horizon House Residential Reentry Center on October 1.

Fisher was found guilty on drug and weapon charges and given a sentence of more than five years in prison in November 2020. On October 10, 2023, he was sent to Horizon House in Albany. After that, he left the institution without permission and roamed the neighborhood until his arrest on October 17, 2014, in Cohoes.

Fisher will be sentenced on April 2 and could spend up to five years behind bars.
