In 2022, a man from Ballston Spa was given a 25-year prison sentence for using a baseball bat to beat his neighbor, which ultimately led to the guy’s death.
On March 12, 2022, 47-year-old Pharrin Greene knocked down the front door of his downstairs neighbor, 67-year-old Bernard Rodgers, entered his apartment, and hit him many times with a bat.
Five months after suffering severe brain injuries, Rodgers passed away.
Following a two-week trial in September, Greene was found guilty on five charges, including assault, manslaughter, two acts of burglary, and criminal mischief.
Victim impact statements were supplied by Rodgers’ family members. According to Letika Rodgers, his daughter, her father was a patriotic U.S. Marine who was unable to walk, talk, eat, or use the restroom by himself following the attack.
The Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office claims that my dad was always busy and self-sufficient.
Ruby Rodgers, his widow, said she couldn’t understand why Greene would take away a nice man.
His niece, Navree Woods-Turner, reported that when her house burned down, her uncle provided both financial and emotional support. Ameka Bethea, his stepdaughter, claimed that he encouraged her to attend college and treated her like her biological daughter.
Karen Heggen, the district attorney, attributed this conviction to the Ballston Spa Police Department’s prompt action and its collaborative investigation with State Police.
