On Saturday, December 7 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the History of Diving Museum (HDM) will provide free guided tours with an entry ticket.
Self-guided museum visits are available, while once a month there are special, in-depth guided tours available. These will be the final tours of 2024.
The excursions in December will pay particular homage to the military divers who participated in the Pearl Harbor recovery, the most hazardous operation in U.S. Navy history that entailed over 20,000 hours of diving. The 83rd anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attacks is December 7.
It is recommended that those who want to take a guided tour arrive 10 to 15 minutes before to the start of the tour. Active duty military personnel and HDM members are admitted free of charge, and residents of the Florida Keys are given a discount. Children can take advantage of free bookmarks, activity guides to do at home, and a scavenger hunt.
On January 18, the next guided tours will take place. The nonprofit museum is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exhibits documenting almost 4,000 years of the endeavor to delve beneath the water can be found at MM 83 in Islamorada. The museum features a museum store, two yearly limited-time highlighted exhibits, and fourteen core exhibits. You may learn more at DivingMuseum.org.
