Taxi manager admits to stealing over $650,000 from Medicaid

The boss of a cab business in Saratoga County has acknowledged embezzling more than $650,000 from Medicaid.

On November 26, Richard Sehl, 57, entered a guilty plea in Rensselaer County Court.

Sehl worked for Medi Cab as a manager. He took engaged in a scam to charge Medicaid for unnecessary travel to doctor’s appointments. The Attorney General’s Office claims that between December 2021 and March 2023, Sehl filed claims for false journeys with inflated mileage.

On January 27, he will get a sentence of five years of probation.

Attorney General Letitia James was looking into kickbacks and illegal billing, and this was part of that inquiry. In these trials, four additional defendants were found guilty as well.
