Phoenix (AP) On Thursday, a woman convicted of plotting the murders of her two youngest children and another woman was deemed fit to face further charges.
Lori Vallow Daybell was found suitable to be charged with plotting the murders of her estranged husband, Charles Vallow, and a niece’s ex-spouse by two court-appointed physicians in Arizona. She has previously received a life sentence in prison in Idaho for her role in the murders of Tammy Daybell, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, and 7-year-old Joshua JJ Vallow.
In 2019, Vallow Daybell’s brother shot and killed his fourth husband, Charles Vallow. He claimed self-defense to the police and was never charged.
Vallow Daybell was already dating Chad Daybell, a self-published author of fiction with an apocalyptic theme that was loosely based on Mormon doctrine. To be nearer to him, she relocated from Phoenix to Idaho.
After becoming Vallow Daywell’s fifth husband, Chad Daywell was found guilty of killing both of his children as well as his ex-wife, Tammy Daybell, and was subsequently given the death penalty.
In order to support their allegations that Chad and Vallow Daybell planned to murder Tammy Daybell and the two children in order to remove any barriers to their relationship and to obtain life insurance and survivor benefits, the prosecutors in the Idaho case questioned hundreds of witnesses.
The pair, according to the prosecution, created an apocalyptic belief system that individuals might be possessed by evil spirits and become zombies, and that the only way to save a possessed person’s soul was for the possessed body to perish. This helped to justify the crimes. Vallow Daybell’s trial has been tentatively scheduled for February 24 by a Maricopa County Superior Court judge.
