It is imperative that the Philadelphia Eagles avoid beating themselves.
The Eagles (11-2) secured their fourth consecutive postseason participation thanks to a nine-game winning streak. They still have a chance to overtake Detroit (12-1) for the NFC’s top spot, and they are vying for an NFC East championship.
However, wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were not happy after an unsightly victory over Carolina in which Jalen Hurts only threw 21 passes for 108 yards. He made it apparent that the passing assault in particular wasn’t performing up to par.
He is correct. In three consecutive games, Hurts has thrown for less than 200 yards. The Eagles haven’t had to rely on Hurts passing to Brown and Smith as much as they used to since Saquon Barkley is running at a record-breaking speed.
Against the Panthers, Smith had four catches on six targets for 37 yards and one score, while Brown caught four passes on four targets for 43 yards.
When a reporter asked Brown what needed to be improved after the game, he responded plainly by saying “passing.”
On his radio broadcast Monday night, veteran leader Brandon Graham heightened the tension by hinting that Brown and Hurts are at odds. Hurts is Brown’s daughter’s godfather, and the two were good friends long before they were teammates.
According to Graham, Brown’s complainant “needs to be held accountable.” I’m simply being truthful. like, and he is aware of this. Although I am not fully aware of the situation, I am aware that Hurts is making an effort. They were buddies before this, but I think Brown should do a little better in terms of how he handles situations. It’s like, “Dude, but things have changed.” I realize that’s because life happens, but we need to focus on the business side and make sure that we don’t let personal matters interfere with our operations. We need to improve on this right now because we know it’s a problem.
Everyone has something to say, but as men, we must be able to work things out. Do you understand what I mean? However, we must put aside our personal issues and focus on this game because, dude, most of the time it’s simply a conversation that (has) to be had, but the person who is having the issue (has) to want to talk to someone else. All I’m saying is that.
Graham, who is now out due to a triceps injury, reportedly told an ESPN reporter that he had assumed the incorrect thing about Hurts and Brown’s connection and that he intended to apologize to both players.
However, the harm had already been done.
Was it, though?
The news that there is fresh instability in Philadelphia went viral on social media, but the Eagles have been here before. After a 10-1 start the previous season, they collapsed, losing six of their next seven games, including a crushing playoff loss to Tampa Bay.
Hurts’ leadership, his relationships with teammates, and the dynamics in the team locker room were all questioned. In addition, coach Nick Sirianni received a lot of flak for the team’s shortcomings.
They are 11-2 and in a position to contend for the Super Bowl after overcoming a turbulent offseason.
All they need to do is get along, prioritize the team, and stop whining about individual numbers in favor of concentrating on the ultimate objective of winning a championship.
Everything may alter in a single breakout passing game.
The future of Belichick
Bill Belichick is unable to surpass Don Shula’s record for the most NFL victories while coaching in college.
He must return to the NFL in order to become the most successful coach in league history, regardless of how sincere his desire in the position at the University of North Carolina is.
The most important question is if he will be given that chance. Out of the eight coaching openings last season, Belichick only had interviews with Atlanta.
To surpass Shula’s record for the most regular-season wins, Belichick, who co-led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl championships with Tom Brady, needs to win 27 more games. He needs 15 more victories to surpass Shula in all-time triumphs, including postseason ones.
The 72-year-old Belichick described his approach to a college position on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show.
According to Belichick, if I were enrolled in a collegiate program, it would serve as a pathway to the NFL for individuals who were capable of playing there. The training, diet, strategy, coaching, and procedures would all be professional and applicable to the NFL. It would be a college-level NFL program.
Belichick noted that collegiate football has become more like professional football as a result of the NIL and transfer site.
Belichick should speak with all interested teams and consider all of his choices.
Even if he is unable to include those victories on his NFL CV, North Carolina might prove to be his best chance to restart coaching.
