The federal complaint filed by a former staffer against former New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo for sexual harassment has been withdrawn.
Charlotte Bennett, the former staffer, said she had voluntarily dropped her complaint, alleging Cuomo and his lawyers have harassed her and her family using various tactics.
Bennett’s lawyers, however, stated that she will pursue her legal action against the state of New York.
Cuomo s attorneys released this statement in response:
The dismissal of Ms. Bennett’s irrational lawsuit should be seen as a total surrender and a last-ditch effort to avoid being faced with the mountains of exculpatory discovery, such as contemporaneous texts and videos that the AG’s office never managed to obtain and which categorically disprove her allegations against Governor Cuomo.
On the eve of her deposition, Ms. Bennett abruptly canceled her federal lawsuit after years of falsely disparaging Governor Cuomo in order to avoid being forced to testify that her charges were unfounded. In order for New Yorkers to finally understand the truth—that Governor Cuomo never sexually harassed anyone—if the state of New York gives in to her public pressure campaign and settles, it won’t be on the merits and should demand the public release of all the evidence.
