Senate passes legislation to put life-saving AED machines in more schools

The realization of a life-saving initiative for American schools is now one step closer.

According to Senator Chuck Schumer, the HEARTS Act has formally passed the Senate.

It will introduce automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) to educational institutions around the nation.

To make this happen, Schumer collaborated with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. During a Monday night football game in January 2023, Hamlin suffered a heart arrest. The Bills medical staff saved Hamlin’s life by performing CPR and using an AED.

According to Schumer, the effects of this law will be felt thousands of miles outside of Buffalo, benefiting millions of children.

It is now time for President Joe Biden to sign the HEARTS Act into law.
