Colonie Police arrest three on drug charges

Three persons were arrested by Colonie police for allegedly carrying cocaine when a car blocked a disabled access place.

The car was spotted by officers on patrol at the Albany Airport Inn (formerly the SureStay Hotel) on Wolf Road. According to Colonie Police, officers found a loaded Glock 22 handgun and narcotics after speaking with Stephen E. Johnson of Albany.

According to authorities, Johnson did not have a valid pistol permit for the firearm, which was taken from New York Shooter Supply in 2017. After obtaining a warrant, officers searched the hotel’s Room 251 and discovered crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and other substances.

Johnson was charged with both narcotics and firearm offenses. In relation to the drugs discovered in the motel room, Craig C. Heerlein, 35, of Whitehall, and Jaylene E. Brown, of South Glens Falls, were taken into custody.

While awaiting a preliminary hearing, Johnson was taken to Albany County Jail without being granted bond. Brown was freed on her own recognizance, while Heerlein was released under probationary monitoring.

The inquiry is still under progress. Contact Colonie Police at 518-783-2754 or Crimestoppers at 1-833-ALB-TIPS if you have any information.
