Sydney (AP) After undergoing surgery for a broken collarbone, Beijing Olympics champion Jakara Anthony will not compete in the upcoming World Cup moguls tournament in Georgia, her manager announced on Friday.
After placing second in Ruka, Finland, the Australian skier had a strong start to the season. Last weekend, he took first place in Idre Fj ll, Sweden.
Before the dual moguls event in Sweden, she received a collarbone injury in a training crash, but she continued to compete even though the event was canceled due to poor visibility.
According to Anthony’s manager Julia Brukner, Jakara will not be able to compete in the forthcoming World Cup in Georgia due to an injury she acquired during World Cup training at Idre Fj ll. She will go to Australia to start her rehabilitation after having collarbone surgery in Oslo.
In February 2026, Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, will host the next Winter Olympics.
Anthony was aiming for the event in Bakuriani, Georgia on December 20–21 after the World Cup round in Alpe d’Huez, France, was canceled this weekend due to insufficient snow.
The 26-year-old wanted to defend the dual moguls and singles crowns she had won in Georgia the previous season.
After winning gold and silver in the first two competitions, Anthony and French skier Perrine Laffont are tied for first place in the World Cup standings with 180 points.
