Cohoes High School students got into a fight Friday morning.
In a statement, the district claimed it was unable to comment on particular student situations. It stated that the Cohoes Police Department reacted after staff members moved quickly to defuse the issue.
Students can be seen gathering in the hallway in a video that was submitted to NewsChannel 13.
After one kid punches another, roughly six other pupils join in the fight. One pupil is repeatedly hit after falling to the ground, while another is in the corner, receiving punches while covering his face with his hands. Before an adult intervenes, there is further punching and kicking.
In the statement, the district declared: Violent and disruptive conduct like this is not acceptable and will not be allowed. In compliance with our Code of Conduct, disciplinary action will be taken.
Our top goal continues to be the security and welfare of our employees and students. We continuously examine and improve safety procedures, train staff members in conflict resolution, and provide resources to promote students’ social-emotional wellbeing as part of our dedication to upholding a secure and encouraging learning environment.
According to the district, conduct in schools that interferes with instruction and endangers the safety of others is unacceptable.
Police have not responded to NewsChannel 13’s request for comment.
