Water-using appliances and showers are now again available to Whitehall residents, although the community asked them to use them sparingly.
Pine Lake, the village’s water supply, is running low, hence there is still a water emergency in effect. In a Thursday morning update, the village reported that Pine Lake water had been successfully pumped by the pump system. The village is still experiencing a water shortage, though.
To reduce daily use, residents are advised to take shorter showers, avoid filling bathtubs to overflowing, and run washing machines and dishwashers with full loads.
It is not yet safe to consume the water. Before utilizing any tap water, it should be cooled after being brought to a rolling boil for at least a minute.
The Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company will continue to provide non-potable and bottled water until 8 p.m. as long as the boil water advisory is in force. Homebound individuals who require water delivery are asked to contact the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company at 518-499-0720 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
