Shooting in Huntington Park Leaves Woman Dead and Man Injured

Huntington Park, CA — A woman is dead, and a man is injured following a shooting Monday night in Huntington Park, authorities confirmed.

At around 9:40 p.m. on December 16, 2024, the Huntington Park Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the 3900 block of East 60th Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a woman inside a truck suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LACSD) assisted in the investigation and soon discovered a trail of blood leading away from the truck. This trail led authorities to a separate incident in the nearby city of Maywood, just a few miles away.

According to the LACSD, a call had been received from the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station about a man with a gunshot wound in Maywood. Officers determined that the blood trail from the Huntington Park scene led directly to the man, who had run several blocks from the site of the shooting. He eventually sought help at a nearby liquor store, where he was found by authorities. The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The relationship between the woman and the man remains unclear, and police have not yet released any information about a potential motive or suspect in the case. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

The shooting has left the community shaken as investigators work to uncover the details behind the tragic incident. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about the case to contact the Huntington Park Police Department or the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
