Frederick County, MD — A Florida man accused of killing two people in Frederick County, Maryland, has been extradited to the state and ordered to be held without bond, according to court officials.
On Sunday, August 25, Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in New Market after receiving a report of a violent incident. Inside, they discovered the bodies of a man and a woman, both of whom had been fatally shot.
The victims were later identified as Crimea Malita Baker, 33, and Sean Antoine Lange, 34. Authorities reported finding their bodies in an upstairs bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators recovered more than 40 shell casings from the scene, indicating the violent nature of the crime.
During the investigation, deputies discovered four children, all aged 13 or younger, hiding inside the home. Fortunately, the children were unharmed. Authorities believe the children hid overnight and emerged in the morning when they felt it was safe.
Officials later revealed that Baker was the mother of all four children, while Lange was the father of one. The two were living together at the time of the incident.
After gathering evidence and conducting interviews, authorities identified Baker’s ex-husband, David Phillip Turner, 33, as the primary suspect. In September, Turner was arrested in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
This week, Turner was extradited from Broward County, Florida, to Frederick County, Maryland. Upon arrival, he waived his bond review hearing and was ordered to remain in custody without bond, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
Following the tragedy, Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins spoke about the impact on the surviving children. “They are devastated. Their lives will never be the same,” Sheriff Jenkins said. “But I believe physically, they’re okay, and they’re with family and safe.”
Family members in Maryland have taken custody of the children, providing them with care and support as they cope with the traumatic loss of their mother and Lange.
Authorities have not released further details about the investigation or a potential trial date. Turner remains in custody as legal proceedings move forward.
