Pittsburgh (Thedailymiaminews)- Calvin Crew is no longer the target of the death penalty, according to the prosecution.
The Penn Hills guy named Crew is charged with kidnapping and murdering his Uber driver in 2022.
Days before the case was scheduled to go to trial, the office of the Allegheny County District Attorney declared that they would not pursue the death penalty.
The allegations against the crew are connected to the death of Christina Spicuzza, who was discovered dead in a wooded area after her fiancé first reported her missing.
The trial’s jury selection process is scheduled to start on Monday, and testimony is anticipated to start the following month.

Christina Spicuzza, 38, was discovered with a single gunshot wound close to Rosecrest Drive in Monroeville in February 2022 after being reported missing.
After a night of driving for Uber, she failed to return, and her family filed a missing person’s report.
Her body was discovered in Monroeville a few hours before Pitcairn police discovered her car on 4th Street.
According to detectives, Spicuzza’s Uber camera was gone, but her purse was discovered in the vehicle.

Investigators discovered that Crew asked Penn Hills for a visit to a home in Pitcairn. The criminal complaint states that when authorities located her missing dashboard camera near Penn Hills, they discovered that the crew had forced her to continue driving after pointing a gun at the back of her head around ten minutes into the ride.
From there, GPS showed that they traveled through other neighborhoods, accessed Spicuzza’s cash apps, and arrived in Monroeville, where she was shot.
The crew is accused of tampering with evidence, robbery, and criminal homicide.
