Woman Killed in East El Paso Stabbing, Suspect Arrested

(Thedailymiaminews), El Paso, Texas — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 30-year-old man has been taken into custody after a 27-year-old woman was stabbed early on Sunday morning, January 5, at a residence in East El Paso County close to Horizon City.

Around 3:30 in the morning on Sunday, a stabbing occurred in the 600 block of Zinc Place.

The woman had been “severely stabbed” when deputies arrived, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the woman passed away from her wounds after being taken to a nearby hospital. The woman was only identified by her age by the sheriff’s office.

The culprit was identified by the Sheriff’s Office as 30-year-old Jorge Albert Chavez, who was observed leaving the house soon after the incident.

Law enforcement was able to track down Chavez, who was traveling on Interstate 20, with the help of the Texas Rangers and the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office claims that Chavez was captured and put into custody without any problems.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit is still looking into the event.
