Thedailymiaminews– It’s unbelievable that 2025 will be here before I know it, and that Washington State will be enacting some new legislation in the coming year.
There’s some good news for minimum wage workers: earnings are rising, and four more laws will go into force in 2025.
This is the Washington State list of new laws for 2025.
Ban on Animal-Tested Cosmetics: With some exclusions, Washington state will outlaw the sale of cosmetics created or produced through animal testing carried out or contracted by the maker or its suppliers as of January 1, 2025.
Raised Minimum Wage: In accordance with the federal Consumer Price Index, Washington’s minimum wage will rise to $16.66 per hour on January 1, 2025.
License Plate Cover Ban: A new rule that will go into effect on January 1, 2025, will forbid the use of license plate covers, including transparent plastic ones, because they can obscure license plates and make them difficult for police and traffic cameras to read. Violators risk fines of more than $100.
Commercial Vehicle Idling Restrictions: In an effort to lessen pollution and enhance air quality, a new law, SB 6304, would charge drivers who leave their commercial vehicles idle for longer than five minutes with fines ranging from $300 to $1,000. January 2025 is when enforcement is expected to start.
Legal Services Pilot Program: A pilot program that permits non-law firm entities to practice law through unconventional business structures and technology has been approved by the Washington Supreme Court. This initiative will start in 2025 and could last for up to ten years with the goal of expanding access to legal services.
