Murder Charge Filed After Man Fatally Stabs Girlfriend

El Paso, Texas (Thedailymiaminews)- According to court documents acquired by KTSM, a 30-year-old man has been charged with murder after he allegedly killed his 27-year-old girlfriend by stabbing her at a residence close to East El Paso County near Horizon City on Sunday, January 5.

Court documents state that 30 year old Jorge Albert Chavez was charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 27-year-old Dafne Michelle Davila.

On January 5, at around 3:29 a.m., deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were called to 609 Zinc Place in reference to an attack that was taking place.

According to court filings, an EPCSO deputy saw a pickup truck in the driveway of the residence with lights on and a man—later identified as Chavez—in the driver’s seat.

Court filings state that after parking its designated patrol car behind the pickup truck, the deputy went up to Chavez and started ordering the car to stop.

After that, Chavez shifted the truck into reverse and drove quickly in the direction of the deputy’s designated unit. According to court filings, he then hit the unit and kept speeding, pushing the patrol unit aside.

Court records state that Chavez hit another car parked at a nearby residence before running away.

Davila was found laying on the kitchen floor with a knife in her throat and a lot of blood on her body after the deputy hurried inside the house and made his presence known. According to court filings, she was struggling for air and seemed to be conscious.

Court filings state that Davila was transported to Del Sol Medical Center, where she was declared deceased.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were able to get an audio recording of the 911 call.

According to court documents, Davila called and begged for assistance, claiming that her boyfriend, Jorge Chavez, 30, had physically abused her with his fists.

Court filings state that Davila gave the address and informed dispatchers that she was hiding in the house’s last room. Then, claiming that “her boyfriend was starting to break down the door in the room,” she begged for assistance.

She started screaming shortly after, and according to court filings, dispatchers heard loud thuds and Chavez’s voice that “sound as though an assault is taking place.”

Following that, Davila and the dispatcher did not communicate again.

Detectives spoke with Chavez’s friend, who said that Chavez called him and confessed to “having just killed his wife and expressed intentions to take his own life,” according to court filings.

According to a press statement issued by the Sheriff’s Office, EPCSO classified this as a case of domestic or familial violence.

Chavez was also extradited by the EPCSO Fugitive Apprehension Unit from the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office to El Paso, where he was charged with murder and posted a $1 million bond at the El Paso County Detention Facility.

East of El Paso, Reeves County is roughly 200 miles away.
