Two Teens Arrested in Connection With Robbery and Homicide Over Vape Cartridges

Thedailymiaminews– According to court documents, police detained two teenage suspects in connection with a heist that resulted in a murder last month after gathering information from a hotel’s security footage, phone records, and Instagram accounts.

Phoenix police reported that 18-year-olds Salvador Montenegro and Adrian Summa are charged with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in connection with the death of 17-year-old Anthony Rabadan on December 23.

Officers discovered Rabadan with at least one gunshot wound after responding to a shooting around 1:30 p.m. near Interstate 10 at the intersection of North 52nd Avenue and West Almeria Road. According to authorities, he passed away after being brought to a hospital.

Records show that one of the suspects straddled the victim and the other held him down by his shoulders throughout the robbery, while witnesses said that the suspects seemed to be searching through the victim’s pockets. One witness claimed to have heard a loud popping sound at this point, followed by a “oh shit” cry, before the suspects fled the scene.

Photos and videos of Montenegro holding the gun thought to have been used in the murder were found on Instagram. Records show that after he posted about the rifle on Instagram, he seemed to sell it.

Video surveillance from the Budget Inn, which is close to Montenegro’s townhouse, was also examined by investigators. According to records, the video shows two males who are thought to be suspects meeting the person who is thought to be the victim and then allegedly running away on foot. The video doesn’t show the claimed victim again.

Investigators were told by the victim’s family friends that they thought the shooting was related to some vape cartridges the victim was selling. Before the incident, he wrote on Instagram about the vape cartridges. The same vape cartridges were discovered on a page that is currently connected to one of the suspects shortly after the shooting.

When a family friend contacted the social media page selling the same vape cartridges, the page owner informed the friend that he and his friend had robbed and shot the seller.

The victim’s family was notified by phone by the family friend, who also suggested that they contact the victim for a welfare check. According to court documents, an unidentified woman answered the phone and claimed to have discovered it by the side of the road.

It is claimed that both suspects are members of a gang. Records show that Summa, a known member of the eastside garfield gang, went by the nickname Grimey. Prior to last December 22, Summa was incarcerated for robbery.

According to documents, Montenegro has a history of crime and jail and is a documented member of the Duppa Villa gang.
