A New Jersey man was killed after being thrown from his motorbike on Route 296 in South Canaan Township in the early evening of May 29, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Honesdale.
Carlo A. Demarco, 67, of Somerset, New Jersey, hit a traffic sign and subsequently off the road while negotiating a left-hand turn near the intersection with Wash Road.
According to Trooper Nathan Conway, Demarco was ejected from the 2000 Harley-Davidson upon collision.
Wayne County Coroner Edward Howell said his office received an alert at 6:27 p.m. The coroner arrived at the site and pronounced Demarco deceased at 6:53. Deputy Coroner Felicia Clark assisted.
“The decedent was not wearing a helmet, and no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the tragic incident,” according to Howell’s news release. According to the release, the accident victim died as a result of blunt force injuries.
