According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, a crash on Interstate 75’s northbound lanes that had been causing traffic delays for much of the morning has been removed.
Previously, I-75 north was closed at its entrance at US Route 50 in Cincinnati as crews cleared the incident site. The entrance ramps to River Road and 6th Street were also closed. Commuters were advised to use other routes throughout the morning.
Traffic cameras show that a semi-truck was involved in the incident near 6th Street. The crash is believed to have occurred at approximately 6 a.m.
It is unclear if anyone was wounded in the event.
As crews struggled to clear the site, traffic backed up on the interstate for more than four hours, stretching as far as Fort Mitchell.
At one point in the morning, ODOT reported commuters on the highway waiting at least 30 minutes to cross the Brent Spence Bridge into Ohio.
It is still unclear what caused the crash.
