According to authorities, a four-vehicle incident on U.S. Highway 69 just south of the Muskogee city limits killed two individuals and injured several others on Monday afternoon.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on June 2 at 2:19 p.m., roughly half a mile south of West Hancock Street in Muskogee County.
According to OHP, a guy was driving northbound in a 2005 Jeep Laredo when he collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche. The Jeep then crossed the median into the southbound lanes and collided with two more vehicles.
The southbound vehicles, a 2024 Toyota RAV4 and a 2008 Toyota Scion xB, were both hit in the chain reaction collision. Eric Guvernator, 66, and Mary Guvernator, 63, both of Marshall, Texas, were killed in the RAV4 accident.
The Jeep driver was rushed to Muskogee’s Saint Francis Hospital with several injuries but was said to be in excellent condition.
According to the OHP, neither the driver nor the two passengers in the Avalanche were hurt.
The driver and passenger in the fourth vehicle, a Toyota Scion, were sent to St. John Hospital in Tulsa with leg injuries and are listed in good condition. According to the report, a 5-month-old boy riding with them was treated at Saint Francis Children’s Hospital for exterior injuries but is in good health.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated. OHP stated that it is still investigating the drivers’ condition, seatbelt use, and other contributing circumstances.
