On Wednesday, a forklift operator died in what appears to be a workplace accident at the Winco Distribution Centre in Woodburn.
Just after 11:30 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the distribution center on the 400 block of S. Woodland Ave.
According to the preliminary investigation by Woodburn Police, the forklift operator, Christopher Ryan De Jesus, 39, was inside a container on a semi.
The lorry driver began to drive away, seemingly ignorant that De Jesus was still inside. The action led the forklift to collapse from the container, killing De Jesus.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers. This incident is still under investigation.
