Police reacted to a shooting at an apartment complex in Lauderhill on Wednesday afternoon, which left two youngsters hospitalised.
It happened around the 2600 block of Northwest 43rd Terrace.
When Lauderhill officers arrived, they “observed two juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the apartment complex.”
According to police, the victims, aged 17 and 16, were transferred to Broward Health Medical Centre, where they are both in stable condition.
Shiraji Reid’s family gathered outside the hospital on Wednesday night, claiming the 16-year-old was on a ventilator.
“We need a change, the streets are too bad,” Reid’s grandmother, Barbara Brown, said. “These children need to go to church.”
Sky 10 flew over the scene around 4:30 p.m., where authorities had closed off nearby streets and taped off the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
