A New York State Trooper was severely injured in a crash on the New York State Thruway on June 6, 2025. Around 12:30 p.m., a tractor that was not carrying a trailer collided with the rear of a police vehicle during a traffic check involving a Honda Odyssey westbound, just west of exit 26.
The police vehicle collided with the Honda, and the trooper, who was standing on the passenger side, was flung over the guiderail and down an embankment. The trooper sustained critical but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Albany Medical Center.
The driver and passenger of the Honda were brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam for minor injuries.
The westbound lanes of the Thruway remain closed at Exit 26 while the collision is investigated. A traffic diversion is in effect near Exit 26. Updates will be posted as they become available.
