Three persons were killed in an incident involving a wrong-way driver and two other vehicles on South Carolina’s Interstate 85.
According to Master Trooper William Bennett of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after midnight on Sunday at the 75-mile marker in Spartanburg County. Bennett said a 2015 Honda car was traveling south on I-85’s northbound lanes when it collided with a 2019 Toyota sedan and a 2024 Ford Expedition. The Honda driver and both Toyota occupants perished at the scene of the incident. The five occupants inside the Ford SUV were unharmed.
Authorities deferred to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office for information on the deceased victims. According to Bennett, the South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
