1 Dead in High-speed Crash on State Route 158 in Midland County, DPS Investigating

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is conducting an active investigation into a high-speed collision that occurred along State route 158 in Midland County on Monday morning.

The collision resulted in the death of one individual and caused the route to be completely closed.

The Midland Fire Department reports that emergency crews arrived at the scene of the collision in the 8500 block of East SH 158 at approximately 11:54 in the morning. Response personnel confirmed that there was only one fatality at the area when they arrived.

During the time that authorities were working at the scene of the accident and conducting an investigation into what caused it, the highway remained entirely closed to traffic as of 12:25 p.m.

The Department of Public Safety is currently in charge of the inquiry, and updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
