Passenger Ejected and Killed After Penske Truck Crashes Into Tree on I-5 in Sacramento

A passenger who died after being ejected from a Penske truck that collided with a tree early Sunday morning in Sacramento has been named.

William Gonzalez, 29, died after the truck struck with a tree around 4:20 a.m. According to officials, the incident occurred southbound on Interstate 5, south of Florin Road.

A 36-year-old male was driving a 2024 Penske truck south on I-5 at an unknown speed in an unknown lane when, for unknown reasons, he made a dangerous turning action and exited the road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck then apparently collided with a tree, ejecting Gonzalez.

He died from his injuries, while the driver was brought to the hospital with serious injuries, according to law police.

The CHP stated no other vehicles were involved in the incident, and it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor.
