According to the Miami Police Department, a man died and two people were injured in a three-vehicle incident near Shenandoah Park on Tuesday evening.
“That’s horrible; it’s not something you want to see in your neighbourhood,” Marcos Mere, who lives nearby, said.
Investigators say a driver struck a guy jogging, an unoccupied automobile, and an ice cream truck with a woman inside near the SW 21 Avenue and SW 19 Street junction soon before 7 p.m. Police have identified the driver as 36-year-old Andres Fialloestupinan.
I heard a big ‘boom’. It sounded like an accident, so I came out barefoot and all. So I went out to the park and encountered a deceased individual,” Mere explained. “He flew from the impact, flew, severed his leg and he landed where I saw him.”
According to neighbours, Fialloestupinan was driving erratically just before the deadly incident. “He was involved in another accident and fled that accident and he was fleeing through the streets,” according to Mere.
According to witnesses, Fialloestupinan attempted to flee the scene of the fatal accident.
“He went inside the park and a bunch of people tackled him down and they held him, I don’t know, until the police came,” Mere told me.
The man who was slain has not yet been identified, but a source said he was a spouse and father of two.
Fialloestupinan and the woman in the ice cream truck were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Fialloestupinan has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and one causing serious bodily injury.
