An accident on Interstate 35 in a major Central Texas city has damaged multiple cars. Two lanes remain blocked as crews seek to remove the multi-vehicle crash, which could have been caused by an 18-wheeler.
On Wednesday, June 11, an anonymous resident of the San Marcos Local News Facebook page reported that an 18-wheeler “plowed through cars” on Southbound I-35/Hopkins Frontage Road in San Marcos.
MySA has contacted the City of San Marcos to check the cause of the mishap; however, TxDOT cameras show that the collision occurred at I-35 Frontage and SH-80/Hopkins Street, just down the street from the H-E-B at 641 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos, TX 78666.
The incident happened at 2:14 p.m., and all three primary lanes were stopped. TxDOT reports that one lane had been cleared as of 3:20 p.m.
Cameras show tow trucks working to remove the damaged autos. Drivers traveling through the I-35 crossing may expect delays due to the two remaining restricted lanes. It is unclear how many automobiles were involved in the collision, or whether anyone was hurt or hospitalized.
