A incident Wednesday in Oakland County, Michigan, injured four individuals, including a 10-year-old child who is in severe condition.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Highland Road and Cass Lake Road, according to the Waterford Township Police Department.
Waterford Regional Fire also responded to the incident.
According to preliminary inquiry, a 19-year-old Waterford resident was driving a Ford Escape southbound on Cass Lake Road at the time of the incident. At the same time, a silver Jaguar X-Type was traveling north on Cass Lake Road and attempting to turn west on Highland Road. According to the police report, the Jaguar driver ignored the red light and collided with the other motorist.
The Jaguar driver was taken to a local hospital, with police reporting “moderate injuries.”
The Ford Escape carried three passengers. The driver and a 22-year-old front-seat passenger experienced “moderate injuries” and were sent to a local hospital.
A 14-year-old rear-seat passenger in the Ford Escape had minor injuries and was released from the hospital.
The other rear-seat passenger in the Ford Escape, a 10-year-old child, had critical head injuries. The infant has been transported to DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, where they are in serious condition.
