Motorcycle Crash in Phelps County Leaves Two With Major Injuries After Hitting Deer

The collision that occurred on Wednesday in Phelps County included a single vehicle, and it resulted in two people suffering significant injuries.

On Highway T, approximately five miles south of Newburg, Missouri, the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) received a report of a 2005 Yamaha XV1700 heading in the northbound direction.

At 8:10 p.m., the motorcycle collided with a deer that was standing in the street, causing it to flip over and eject both of the people who were riding it.

Both the male driver, who was 52 years old, and the female passenger, who was 56 years old, both of Rolla, experienced significant injuries as a result of the collision. They were immediately transported to University Hospital by medevac.

During the time of the incident, neither of the occupants was wearing a helmet, according to the MSHP.
