One Dead, One Injured in Phoenix Truck Accident While Crossing Outside Crosswalk

Police in Phoenix released the identify of a pedestrian killed by a truck earlier this week.

Christian Chevarillo, 34, died of injuries incurred while attempting to cross Lower Buckeye Road on Wednesday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Around 9 p.m., officers responded to an accident involving two individuals near 85th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

Officers arrived to find Chevarillo and another victim critically injured. Chevarillo was transported to the hospital, where he eventually died of his injuries.

According to officials, the other man was hospitalised after suffering significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives took up the case, stating that both men were attempting to cross Lower Buckeye Road outside of any established crosswalks when they were struck by the truck.

According to investigators, the motorist remained on the site and was not impaired at the time of the crash.
