A man is facing multiple crimes for allegedly recording an underage girl while she tried on clothes.
The daring act occurred Tuesday at the Salvation Army Van Horn in Trenton.
“It’s really disgusting.” “It’s inappropriate,” remarked Nichola Freeland.
Nichola, a Salvation Army client, can’t believe a 14-year-old girl was victimised in the fitting room by a man who was filming her while she was changing.
“All you have to do is stay alert at all times.” But, like children, they don’t know any different and are simply having a great time. And then, all of a sudden, someone takes advantage of it, which is terrible,” Nichola said.
Trenton Police Chief Mike Hawkins stated that identifying the suspect, 32-year-old Eric Theodore Williams, was a top priority.
“It’s a terrible crime, and it targets minors. “It’s a creepy situation,” Chief Hawkins stated.
But after being seen by employees, Williams fled in a car that cops subsequently discovered down the street, empty. Officers apprehended Williams after conducting a quick search in the nearby bush.
“I like to believe that our officers go above and beyond. “We’ll do everything we can to protect our residents and visitors to Trenton,” Hawkins added.
Williams is now facing a number of accusations, including using a computer to commit a crime, a 2 to 4-year felony, and surveilling an unclothed person, a 2-year felony.
“It’s very disturbing,” Hawkins explained. “You sit there and at night, you think, wow, you’re going to hold on a little bit tighter to the young ones, because there are some definite people out there that mean harm to kids, and we’re going to do our best to bring them to justice,” Hawkins recounted.
“I’ll be more aware when I go to the fitting rooms, for sure,” Sandi Cuthbert remarked.
Williams received a $100,000 cash bond.
