One Hospitalized, Multiple Pets Saved in Brighton Home Fire

A house fire in Brighton this week resulted in the rescue of many cats and kittens, as well as one person being rushed to hospital.

Brighton Fire Rescue said they assisted the City of Thornton Fire Department, the South Adams County Fire Department, and the Fort Lupton Fire Protection District in responding to a house fire near 138th Place and Riverdale Road.

According to crews, the entire house eventually caught fire.

Crews stated that while fighting the fire, they also worked to keep the flames from spreading to the neighbouring property. They stated that, despite the extreme wind conditions, workers were able to successfully prevent the next-door home from being damaged by the fire.

One individual was rescued from the home and transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. As of Friday evening, the extent of their injuries had not been disclosed.

Crews also reported that several cats and kittens were rescued from the home, but did not specify how many.
