3-car Crash in Homecrest Leaves 4 Injured; Driver Charged With DWI, Reckless Endangerment

A three-car accident involving police in Brooklyn hospitalized four individuals, including two New York City Police officers in critical condition.

According to investigators, one driver has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

It occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday on Coney Island Avenue and Avenue U in Homecrest.

According to police, Diyorjon Sobirjonov, 24, struck a vehicle moving westbound on Avenue U before colliding with a police cruiser traveling southbound on Coney Island Avenue.

“It was insane how loud. “I really thought something hit the building, like a bomb went off,” a witness named Demetro stated. The two NYPD officers in the patrol car, both 34 years old, sustained critical injuries. Two passengers in Sobirjonov’s vehicle were also hurt, including a 30-year-old male in stable condition and a 31-year-old guy in severe condition.

“They started taking everybody out on the stretchers, but it was a terrible mess,” Demetro recalled.

According to officials, the driver and passenger in the third vehicle declined medical attention.

Police believe Sobirjonov was inebriated at the time of the collision. He was taken into custody on the scene.

Sobirjonov faces many allegations, including six counts of reckless endangerment and DWI.
