A driver was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday with significant injuries after colliding with a Brightline train in Pompano Beach, according to authorities.
According to NBC station WTVJ, the incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. near the intersection of West Atlantic Boulevard and North Dixie Highway.
Multiple first responders were called to the location after getting reports of a train-vehicle crash.
According to Pompano Beach Police, the incident occurred when the car was on the railroad lines and resulted in the vehicle landing upside down.
Officials stated the car’s engine block and tire smashed through a window at the City Commission Chambers.
Paramedics transported the driver of the vehicle to a nearby hospital. As of Tuesday afternoon, there was no update on the driver’s condition.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies were examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
