An Oakland County woman accused of sexually assaulting two teenage boys while working at a Wayne County juvenile jail was found guilty on Tuesday.
Officials said Svetlana Kuryanova, 33, of Farmington Hills, sexually assaulted two boys, ages 16 and 17, around 7 p.m. on April 8, 2024, at the Juvenile Detention Facility on Hamtramck Drive in Hamtramck.
Kuryanova worked as a juvenile detention specialist at the time.
She was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct (county prisoner). That charge carries a maximum of 15 years in prison.
“The allegations in this case are among the most disturbing ones that I have seen,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy stated in May 2024. “It is hard to wrap my brain around the fact that this occurred in the Juvenile Detention Facility, and charged defendant is allegedly responsible for this illegal behavior.”
Kuryanova was convicted by a jury on June 17, 2025. She is scheduled to be sentenced on July 9, 2025.
