A community is stunned after a 12-year-old was burned with gasoline by his brother.
According to investigators, two brothers were playing with gasoline.
One was admitted to the hospital with burns, and the other is in juvenile detention on arson charges.
“That’s crazy. “It has made me cry, man,” resident Bruce Mitchell said. Questionable decisions resulted in a night that the family and community will never forget.
“I hope they make it, man. “I’ll pray for him,” Mitchell said.
On Saturday night, the kids decided to play with gasoline.
Investigators stated that the children were playing, but something went wrong. “Acquired gasoline and were throwing it at each other and setting it on fire for whatever reason,” said Lt. Kristopher Shultz of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies discovered that the throwing and lighting of the gasoline was intentional.
A child has now been charged with aggravated arson and felonious assault.
The victim is currently being treated at a burn center with non-life-threatening injuries. Deborah Taylor couldn’t believe what she’d heard.
“This is very sad and disturbing to hear. I mean, gasoline, and to get hold of it like that, to throw it, and to think you won’t get hurt?” she asked.
Police are looking into what roles other children who were present may have played.
