Late-night Collision Between Lancaster Police Vehicles Injures Officer, Damages Traffic Signal

An officer was injured when two police cruisers collided in Lancaster County early Wednesday morning, according to dispatchers.

Two Lancaster City police SUVs collided at the intersection of North Lime and East Chestnut streets shortly before 1 a.m. Police said the officers collided while responding to a burglary in progress.

According to dispatch, a large pole crashed down on top of one of the cruisers. The pole was severed, and the traffic signal was damaged.

Dispatchers initially informed WGAL News 8 that three people had been taken to the hospital.

According to Lancaster City police, only one officer was transported for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the PIO, the other two occupants were Bureau employees who sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
