A man in New Hampshire is accused of crashing into a family and killing an 11-month-old toddler just days before her first birthday.
According to a GoFundMe page, Steven was taking his five children to a park for a special day of play and bonding on June 12.
“In the blink of an eye, tragedy struck. “A driver came barreling down the street at a high rate of speed,” said Randa Gibson, the fundraising coordinator.
Steven managed to get three of the children out of the way just in time, but 11-month-old Rebecca and her sister were killed. “Tragically, Rebecca passed away on 6/13/2025, just a few days shy of her first birthday and just before Father’s Day,” she told me.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Justin LaClair drove through the family on Belmont Street on Thursday afternoon before colliding with a pole, but he told police he couldn’t remember what happened, WMUR reports.
Witnesses told police that LaClair’s car drove through the intersection where the family was walking. LaClair allegedly hit the children and threw them into the air before continuing to drive.
Moments later, LaClair allegedly crashed into another car. The driver of that vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
LaClair was allegedly seen leaving the second scene and was later arrested.
He is charged with aggravated DWI, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and two counts of conduct following an accident.
