Deadly Crash at SH 80 and FM 792 Leaves One Dead, Multiple Injured

A major motor vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of SH 80 and FM 792, just outside Karnes City, killed one person and injured four others, according to a press release from the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).

Deputies were dispatched to the scene at 12:32 p.m. on June 19, where they immediately began life-saving efforts until Karnes County EMS arrived and took over the victims’ care.

Four people were transported to San Antonio hospitals, including University Hospital, Brooke Army Medical Centre, and Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, by AirLife helicopter and ground transport. The condition of those injured is unknown as of the release.

T. Enriquez, Justice of the Peace for Karnes County Precinct 3, pronounced one occupant dead on the scene.

The intersection remained closed on Thursday afternoon as the Texas Department of Public Safety-Highway Patrol investigated the incident. Authorities advised drivers to take alternate routes until further notice.
