Two Baby Fawns Rescued From Oregon Wildfire by Brave Firefighters

Two baby fawns were rescued by crews fighting a large wildfire in Wasco County last week, according to Oregon fire authorities.

Firefighters say a Grand Ronde crew with the Polk County Task Force discovered one fawn near Tooley Lake. “The little one emerged from the burned area, crying and making a beeline straight for our firefighters, clearly on a mission to find help,” the firefighters wrote on social media.

The crew members lifted the fawn from the hot ground, cleaned it with bottled water, and checked for injuries.

“Once safe and steady, the tiny adventurer wandered off into a nearby patch of green, away from danger and hopefully back to its family,” firefighters described.

A second fawn was discovered by a Linn County Task Force crew working on the fire line, according to Lebanon Fire District social media posts.

The little deer had minor burns, so officials transported it to a nearby animal hospital.

According to the fire district, the veterinarian believes the fawn will recover completely.
