A two-year-old child drowned in a pool at a family event in Southgate.
The incident happened on Friday (June 20) at 8:15 p.m., when Southgate police responded to a medical emergency in the 16000 block of Quarry at the outdoor pool area.
Police said they were notified about the 2-year-old girl who was not breathing, and they attempted CPR.
According to officials, medical personnel arrived on the site and began doing additional life-saving efforts.
The 2-year-old daughter was rushed to Wyandotte Hospital by EMS and pronounced deceased.
According to police, the initial inquiry at the scene revealed that the child had fallen into the pool while attending a pool party.

Police said it is unclear how long the toddler was in the pool before being discovered.
