1 Dead in Early Morning Delano Crash; Suspect Driver Abandons Scene

According to the California Highway Patrol, a tragic two-vehicle crash in Delano early this morning killed one person and forced another to flee the scene on foot.

The incident took place shortly after 2 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 43 and Graces Highway. Authorities reported that a Toyota Camry travelling southbound on Highway 43 collided with a Toyota Tacoma travelling westbound on Graces Highway.

The driver of the Tacoma failed to stop at the intersection, colliding with the Camry’s left side and spinning it out of control onto the dirt shoulder.

The driver of the Camry was pronounced dead on the scene. Meanwhile, the Tacoma driver fled on foot, leaving the scene of the accident.

It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
