A Minnesota woman is healing at home after being shot seven times while driving.
The woman’s youngster in the back seat could have easily been struck by a bullet.
Tyra Rogers was not in need of home health care two weeks ago. She was a vibrant and healthy mother, but after 10 days in the hospital, everything had changed. Rogers was driving her mother home from a pub on the east side of St. Paul. Her daughter was in the backseat.
According to Rogers, the truck drew up next her and began shooting.
“I looked down, and my sweater was smoking. My sweatshirt was smoldering from the heat of the bullet, and when I looked, the glass was shattered,” Rogers explained.
At least one gunshot struck near her daughter’s car seat.
“The last time I asked him is my daughter OK, the officer reached my arm back and I felt her and then I looked back and she was playing with the officer in the ambulance with stickers,” Rogers allegedly recalled. “She got to ride with me.”
Officials stated the girl was not injured, but Rogers was shot seven times in the legs, back, and stomach.
“My stomach got busted open,” Rogers said. “I got maybe 20-something staples going down my whole stomach.”
Rogers claims she feels sore, but that is not what hurts the most.
“I like to bring her places and do stuff with her, but now I can’t because I can barely walk around on my own,” Rogers told me.
Rogers is now hoping for some movement in the case, which St. Paul police say is still under investigation.
“I want the people who did this to be caught because it’s really senseless,” Mr. Rogers remarked. “There are too many shootings involving women. They’re hitting people who aren’t their intended targets.”
St. Paul police have yet to make any arrests.
